Peter Ostrower

Wednesday Sept 9th 2009
Night club Campus Center @ 7:00 pm

The Global Awareness Roundtable is a monthly event designed to introduce the Alfred community to a variety of cultures from around the world. This informal gathering gives our international faculty, students and alumni the opportunity to introduce participants to countries as diverse as Japan, Guatemala and Tunisia. Students who have lived, studied or worked abroad also share their experiences and observations. Presentations cover a wide range of topics including history, traditions, art, music and food. If you are interested in participating or have any questions please contact Zakia Robana @ 871-2880

Alfred native Pete Ostrower will share photos and stories of his work as an environmental health Peace Corps volunteer in Panama, where he lived in a 300 person agricultural community in the muddy hills of a deforested jungle without electricity.

New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA) will conduct an information seminar  on NYFA Artists' Fellowships at the Arts & Cultural Council for Greater Rochester (277 North Goodman Street, Rochester, NY) from 3-6 p.m. Wednesday, September 16. The information seminar will address questions about NYFA's on-line application process and inform artists about funding opportunities and other areas of career development. The seminar is free, and no reservations are required.

Each year, NYFA offers $7,000 cash grants to up to 100 artists in all disciplines selected via a peer panel process. Since the Fellowships were first established in 1985, NYFA has awarded more than $22 million to over 3,500 New York artists.
