Avoid close contact with people who are ill.
Stay home from work or school if you are sick.
Use tissue when you cough, sneeze, or spit, and dispose of the tissue in acovered trash bin.
If a tissue is not available, cough into your upper arm, NOT your hand.

Clean shared spaces such as phone receivers, keyboards, steering wheels, and office equipment before you use them.
Refrain from sharing personal items such as forks, spoons, toothbrushes and towels.

Public Lecture, 11/9
Museum of Modern Art Curator Juliet Kinchin: A Public Lecture
Monday, Nov. 9 at 5 p.m., Nevins Theater
Juliet Kinchin, Curator, Architecture and Design, The Museum of Modern Art, will lecture on "Hungarian Pottery, Politics and Identity: Lili Markus and Margit Kovács"
Margit Kovács and Lili Márkus are less well known than their contemporary Eva Zeisel, whose pots are in the Museum of Modern Art. The three potters were trained in Hungary, more or less simultaneously. From that point their careers diverged: Kovács stayed in Hungary and found success producing work that was ideologically aligned to the country's political needs. Márkus slipped quietly into obscurity working as a studio potter in Britain. Curator Juliet Kinchin will discuss the ways craft and design production reflected the broader issues of the twentieth century, especially questions of national and cultural identity.

AU Responses to the National Study of Student Engagement
In the spring of 2009, first-year and senior students at Alfred University participated in the National Study of Student Engagement (NSSE). USA Today will run a feature story this week on levels of student engagement across various campuses, with AU's student responses included in the article.
Analysis of the NSSE data by AU staff is underway, and you will soon be hearing about the results through faculty, staff, and student meetings, and a NSSE Web site. But if you'd like a preview of this information, please open the attached documents for a brief summary of AU student responses and our comparisons to other colleges and universities.
Questions can be directed to Nancy Evangelista at fevangel@alfred.edu.
