HINI Vaccine Available for Students
The NYS Department of Health has supplied the AU Health Service with a limited amount of H1N1 vaccine for our students. Students should call the AU Health Service at 607.871.2400 to arrange an inoculation appointment. Students at risk for flu complications due to pre-existing medical conditions are especially encouraged to receive the vaccine before departing for the upcoming break.

Advance Tickets for NCAA Play-off Game Saturday
Advance tickets for the home NCAA Football Playoff Game will be sold in the McLane Center Lobby, Wed., November 18th - Friday, November 20th from 1 - 3:00 pm. Tickets are $4 for students with I.D. and children. Adult tickets are $8. There are no complimentary tickets and no "will call" or saved tickets. Tickets will also be available, gameday at Merrill Field. Avoid Long Lines - Get Your Game Tickets Today!

NCAA Playoff Game to be Webcast Live
The Alfred University football team's NCAA first-round playoff game against visiting Albright College, Saturday, Nov. 21, at noon at Merrill Field, will be broadcast live on the Internet. The live video stream can be accessed at http://www.pennatlantic.c.... It is free to view the Webcast; viewers must first create an account and then log in the day of the game.

NCAA policies in effect for Saturday’s game
The play-off game between the Alfred Saxons and the Albright College Lions, scheduled for noon Saturday at Merrill Field, is being run in accordance with National Collegiate Athletic Association policies, one of which limits the number of "free" passes the University is permitted to honor. For this game, and for any other NCAA events, we are unable to grant free admission to retirees or others who may have been admitted without charge to home games in the past.
Advance tickets are available at McLane Center lobby from 1-3 p.m. today and Friday; tickets will also be available at the gate the day of the game. Cost is $8 for adults, $4 for students with valid AU ID as well as for children.

Child Abuse & S.A.V.E. Workshops
In order to meet NYS Education Department requirements for certification, all education major and minor students must attend a Safe Schools Against Violence In Education (SAVE) Workshop and a Child Abuse Identification & Reporting Workshop. The Division of Education will offer these workshops as follows:

Part 1: Wednesday, Oct. 7 - 11:20 a.m.-12:35 p.m. - 336 Myers Hall
Part 2: Monday, Nov. 23 - 11:20 a.m.-12:35 p.m. - 336 Myers Hall
(you must attend both days to complete this workshop)
Child Abuse Identification & Reporting Workshop:
Monday, Nov. 30 -- 4:10- 6:50 p.m. -- 227 Myers Hall
Please note: If you have taken these workshops before you do not have to take them again.

Chemical Waste Removal
A chemical waste removal will occur during the week of 12/07/09. Both hazardous and non-regulated waste will be accepted.
All chemical waste must be received in your respective Central Accumulation Area (CAA) no later than Thursday, 12/03/09. Advanced Waste Solutions will be packaging for transport on 12/8 and 12/9. NYSCC contact Dean x3020 (Harder Hall CAA) or Shanti x2497(McMahon CAA); non-statutory AU contact Dean x3020 to arrange for receipt of your waste in Myers Hall CAA.
All Satellite Accumulation Area labels MUST be filled-out completely with EPA# for respective college, building name, Room # or area name, start date, full/fill date, initials, chemical name(s) of constituents in the accumulation container with volume or weight, and waste characteristics prior to receipt in Central Accumulation. Note: You have only 72 hours from the full date to receive in the CAA. SAA containers must be capped, have clean exterior, and SAA label easily legible. If you have any questions contact Dean Perry.
All Satellite Accumulation Areas must be empty prior to December 17th, with a notation to that effect made on your submitted December '09 Satellite Accumulation Area Weekly Inspection sheet.
Completed Hazardous Waste Log Forms must be sent to Dean Perry no later than Wednesday 11/25/09 and may be mailed, faxed to x2086, or e-mailed to: perrydr@alfred.edu. Advanced Waste must have this information beforehand in order to obtain required approvals from the TSDF.
Hazardous Waste Log Forms are available at http://our.alfred.edu/ind... under the heading "AU EH&S Forms".
You may still accumulate waste and add to your list notifying Dean of the additional waste by faxing or e-mailing a NEW waste log sheet adding the word "Amended" to the title no later than 12/3/09.

Saxons Tailgate Party Saturday at 10:30
Our AU football team is in the NCAA Division 3 championship playoffs for first time since 1981 and the second time ever in AU history. Help us celebrate and cheer them on!

Food, Inc. Free Film Screening + Food + Talk
Alternative Cinema and Green Alfred will be co-sponsoring a free screening of "Food Inc." at the Alfred Village Hall on Saturday, Nov. 21.
The evening will begin at 7 p.m. with samples of food using locally produced ingredients; the film will start at 7:30 p.m. There will be a discussion involving local food producers following the film.
"Food Inc." is a documentary detailing the less public side of the American food industry. The film investigates the political, environmental, and social implications which result when food production is optimized in such a way as to maximize profits.
The Alfred Village Hall is located at 7 West University St., directly West of the Box of Books Library. (above the police station)
