Goldenberg ’74 showing ceramics at Winter Crafts Fair 12/18/15

Eileen Goldenberg, AU Class of 1974, will be among the 200 juried artists and craftspeople exhibiting original work in all media at the KPFA Winter Crafts Fair, Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 19 and 20 at the Craneway Pavilion, 1414 Harbour Way South, Richmond, CA.

News Image Downey '09 serving first year as director of Sports Medicine at Binghamton University 12/15/15

Chris Downey, a 2009 Alfred University graduate, is serving his first year as Director of Sports Medicine at Binghamton University.

Downey came to Binghamton prior to the beginning of the 2015-16 academic year from Onondaga Community College in Syracuse, where he served as athletic trainer for four years.

He is a 2009 graduate of Alfred University, earning a bachelor's degree in athletic training. While at AU, he played one season (freshman year, 2005) as a defensive back on the junior varsity football team.

News Image Bisbee ’90 presenting ‘Only nails’ in Pennsylvania art exhibition 12/15/15

John Bisbee’s installation “Only nails, always different” is featured in the Pennsylvania College of Art & Design show “Tesselation Phage” on view through Monday, Jan 25, 2016. His piece takes over a 10-by-21-foot wall space.


“It feels like a virus,” said John, a member of the AU Class of 1990. “It feels like a bacteria over a robust geometric tile pattern.” Students helped John install the piece, which gallery director Heidi Leitzke describes as an “epic undertaking.”

News Image ‘Reluctant Soldier’ Conroe ’53 writes memoir of his military service 12/14/15

Bruce Conroe, AU Class of 1953 and a member of the AU Alumni Council, has released the book “Memories of a Reluctant Soldier: The Cold War Revisited,” a memoir of his military service, growth as a young man and early family life during the 1950s.

Rogers ’57 presents winter watercolors in two solo exhibitions 12/14/15

East Islip, NY watercolor artist Jeanne Fields Rogers, AU Class of 1957, is displaying “beautifully vibrant winter landscapes and scenery from across Long Island and New York State” in a solo exhibition at the Islip Town Hall. The display is part of the Islip Arts Council’s “Art in the Hall” program, which selects local artists’ work for the space outside the town boardroom throughout the calendar year. Jeanne’s work is up in Islip through Thursday, Dec. 31, 2015.

News Image ‘All that Glitters’ from McNally ’00 will ‘sparkle’ at Center for the Digital Arts, Peekskill, NY, through Jan. 8, 2016 12/10/15

A solo exhibition of seasonal décor by Erin McNally, AU Class of 2000, will be on display at Westchester (NY) Community College’s Extension - Center for the Digital Arts through Friday, Jan. 8, 2016.

The show is “designed to act as a perfunctory antidote to the distractions that inhibit our holiday celebrations,” say the gallery notes. “Inspired in part by the 1908 essay “Ornament and Crime,” by Adolf Loos, ornaments and wreaths, assembled from unconventional materials, make a satirical attempt to adorn, and thus redeem, those who have lost their way during the season of giving.”

Kaplan ’75 art on display in Brooklyn Heights 12/10/15

Work by Lisa Kapan, AU Class of 1975, is included in the five-artist NYCATA (New York City Art Teachers Association) Retreat Exhibit at the Callahan Gallery, St. Francis College, Brooklyn Heights. There will be an artist reception Saturday, Dec. 19 from 2-4 p.m.

News Image Perry ’12 to discuss and screen recent work at Electronic Arts Intermix, NYC 12/10/15

Electronic Arts Intermix (EAI) at 535 W. 22nd St., will present “Sondra Perry: Screening and Artist Talk” Wednesday, Dec. 16 at 6:30 p.m., an event which launches EAI’s distribution of her work.

Sondra, AU class of 2012, will screen and discuss recent and upcoming projects including her “My Twilight Zone Thing,” currently being developed through a residency in Recess’s Session program.
