Letter to the Class of 1958:

Dear Class of 1958 Classmate:

Time is getting short. Reunion 2008 is June 13-15! This letter is primarily to urge those of you “on the fence” to decide to join the rest of us. Get your plans made and reservations in to the alumni office.

We have been keeping those on the “something good” email list informed about events and likely attendees. The count is close to 70 and rising. Here is an updated summary of some of the events and arrangements that are planned to make reunion even more memorable. These are in addition to the events for all, and our class dinner on Saturday evening.

PARADE: On Friday afternoon June 13 at 3:00 PM take part in a parade to welcome the classmates who are bicycling the 320 miles from near Philadelphia to Alfred. St. Pat (Steve Saunders) will make his appearance. Our St. Pat’s and Homecoming queens will also reprise their roles (You all remember who they are, right?). Many of our old campus groups are competing to get as full attendance as possible. There will be horse-drawn conveyances, old cars, fire engines, police escort and music. The parade will be from McLane Athletic Center (translated, that’s the “new” gym) to the King Alfred statue (donated by Steve and Barb Saunders), about half a mile. Transportation will be available for anyone who feels the need to ride.

CLASS OF ’58 LOUNGE: Alumni Relations has agreed to let us have use of the Board Room in the Powell Campus Center and will supply light refreshments during the day. It will be a convenient gathering and resting place during any lulls in the schedule.

HOUSING: For those who want to stay in a dorm, we now will have the second floor of the Brick just for our class. Previously, Kruson Hall was to be for our class but renovations will not be complete by reunion time. Stairs must be used to get to the Brick 2nd floor. For those who would have a problem with this, the 1st floor of the Brick is available as well as Openhym Hall that is just above Alumni Hall. The first floor of the Brick and Openhym are for all classes.

Call or email our classmates! Bill Dick will have the most updated contacts. The AU Office of Alumni and Community Relations is the overall coordinating point for the weekend events. REMINDER: This is important. The Memory Page forms must be filled out and returned to Alfred by April 15th. We want to have everyone in our class whether he or she is coming or not to be in the Memory Book. Everyone who submits content will receive a copy. We can look forward to many happy moments reading about the lives of our classmates.
