Alfred University's Equestrian Program includes a wide range of courses and activities from beginning to advanced levels. Whether you are interested in riding for fun or serious competition we have offerings to meet your needs. If an academic major or minor focusing on equine studies is more to your liking we encourage you to explore our extensive range of courses.

Alfred University currently fields IHSA (Intercollegiate Horse Show Association) varsity teams in English and Western riding and competes against some of the top collegiate equine programs. This year 7,500 riders from 300 schools across the nation competed in the IHSA. Two AU riders qualified for Nationals: our English rider placed second and is the Reserve National Champion; our Western rider placed 8th.

Our Equestrian Club offers opportunities for those who just want to share their love of horses and riding with others.

The Alfred University Western equestrian team competed at the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) National Championships, Thursday-Sunday, May 8-11, in Burbank, CA.

AU English equestrian team ends season at Zone championships

The Alfred English equestrian team competed Saturday at the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) Zone II championships at Skidmore College.

AU English equestrian team places third at Regionals

The Alfred English equestrian team placed third at the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) Zone II, Region II championships held Saturday, March 29, at St. Lawrence University.

AU Western equestrian team qualifies for national championships

The Alfred University Western equestrian varsity team placed second in Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) National Semi-Finals, held Saturday and Sunday at Cazenovia College, and will now move on to compete at the IHSA National Championships in California in May.
