Event : Pour for Haiti

Members of Alfred University's Foundry Guild poured their hearts out to help survivors of the earthquake in Haiti, raising more than $5,000 in a one-day event.

Area residents of all ages visited the National Casting Center on State Route 244 just north of the Village of Alfred to make "relief sculptures" of cast aluminum, as well as to enjoy food, music, a silent art auction and a raffle, with all proceeds to help those affected by the earthquake.

For Walner Edmond, whose father was left homeless by the quake, the fund-raiser took on a very personal meaning.

Faculty advisor to the Foundry Guild is Coral Lambert.
