With an accredited APA (American Psychological Association) doctoral program and a NASP (National Association of School Psychologists) approved specialist program, Alfred University's School Psychology program prepares professional psychologists to work with children and adults who impact children in school, family, and mental health settings.

Our students are trained in:

  • Assessment and intervention with both educational and psychological problems
  • Counseling, psychotherapy, and family systems
  • Consultation with parents, teachers, and organizational systems
  • Research methods
  • Program design and evaluation

These skills are taught within an educational context that promotes respect and appreciation for individual, family, and cultural diversity.  Through a process of individual feedback and goal-setting, students acquire the applied skills and self-awareness to become independently functioning professionals.
