Calling hours, memorial service Saturday for John Stull

John L. Stull, professor emeritus at Alfred University (AU) and member of the class of 1952, died Friday, Nov. 9, 2012, with Paula, his wife of 60 years by his side.

Services will be Saturday, Nov. 17, at Susan Howell Hall, on campus. Calling hours will be from 1:30-3:30 p.m., downstairs (handicapped accessible), with a memorial service at 4 p.m. upstairs, and a reception to follow.

Students set up activities to recognize local, campus veterans

Several Alfred University (AU) students and organizations are working to recognize and appreciate local veterans, including student veterans, veterans currently serving on the AU faculty/staff, and AU retirees.

School of Art and Design hosts internationally acclaimed painter’s lecture

On Tuesday, Nov. 13, German painter and Theodore Randall International Chair in Drawing, Painting and Photography at Alfred University, Jutta Haeckel, will lecture on her work at 4:30 p.m. in Nevins Theater, located in Alfred University’s Powell Campus Center. The event is open to the public and free of charge.

Performing Arts stages gender-bender comedy production

The Alfred University (AU) Division of Performing Arts presents playwright Jane Martin’s “Anton in Show Business,” Wednesday through Saturday, Nov. 14-17, in the C.D. Smith III Theatre, Miller Performing Arts Center complex. Curtain up is 8 p.m.

Physician to present osteopathic medicine program

James Rummel, doctor of osteopathy and resident physician in Jones Memorial Hospital’s Family Practice Office in Andover, will be presenting “Do you D.O.?: Osteopathic Medicine?” as part of Alfred University’s ongoing Bergren Forum Series

Wildlife maintenance topic of next environmental series talk

Tracy Rittenhouse, assistant professor in the Department of Natural Resources and the Environment at the University of Connecticut, will present “Maintaining Wildlife Populations in Intensively Managed Forests” as part of Alfred University’s Environmental Studies Seminar Series. The lecture will take place on Friday, Nov. 16 at 12:20 p.m. in Roon Lecture Hall (Room 247) located in Alfred University’s Science Center.
