Alfred University announces men’s basketball coaching appointments
Jonathan Webb has been appointed assistant coach and Christopher Ehmar has been appointed graduate assistant coach. Webb and Ehmer will assist first-year coach Wellman, who was appointed head coach this summer. Wellman replaced former men’s head coach Jay Murphy, who is now head coach of the AU women’s team.
Webb is a 2006 graduate of Washington College in Chestertown, MD, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration and was a four-year starter on the men’s basketball team. While at Washington, he was a three-time Centennial Conference all-star and his team’s MVP as a junior and senior. He left Washington as the school’s fourth leading scorer all-time and ranks eighth and 10th, respectively, in scoring and rebounding all-time in the Centennial Conference.
Webb also earned a master’s in business administration in 2008 from Wesley College in Dover, DE, where he served two seasons (2006-07 and 2007-08) as a graduate assistant coach. He was head junior varsity coach at Wesley for the 2007-08 season and also served as the team’s academic coordinator.
Ehmer also graduated from Washington College in 2006, with a bachelor’s degree in economics. While at Washington, he was a student-assistant coach for four years (2002-06), serving one season (2003-04) as head junior varsity coach and two seasons (2005-05 and 2005-06) as assistant JV coach. He was head boys’ basketball coach at Columbia-Montour High School in Bloomsburg, PA, for two seasons (2006-07, 2007-08).
He was head coach of the Pocono Region team during the Keystone State Games of 2006 and 2007. He worked as an instructor at the Keystone State Invitational Basketball Camp in Reading, PA, for four summers (2002-05).
