AU indoor track and field teams compete at RIT meet

ROCHESTER, NY — The Alfred University men’s and women’s indoor track and field teams competed Saturday at the RIT Black & Orange Invitational meet. There were no team scores.

Pacing the AU men were senior Erik Jezek (Orchard Park, NY/Hamburg), who was second in the 55-meter hurdles (8.39 seconds) and third in the 200-meter dash (23.93 seconds), and junior Lee Consolo (Pleasantville, NY/Pleasantville), who was second in the 400-meter run (52.64 seconds) and third in the 800-meter run (2:14.56).

Freshman Melissa Haahr (Tioga, NY/Owego) won the 800-meter run in 2:36.08 to lead the AU women’s team. Sophomore Emily Merkey (Walworth, NY/Wayne) was second in the shot put (6.22 meters); sophomore Jennifer Chan (Angelica, NY/Genesee Valley) was third in the 500-meter dash (1:28.45) and 800-meter run (2:46.90); and junior McKenzie Clemens (Lowville, NY/Lowville) was third in the 3,000-meter run (12:22.14).
