AU women’s ski team in 14th place after first day at nationals

WINTER PARK, CO — The Alfred University women’s Alpine ski team is in 14th place after Wednesday’s giant slalom competition at the United States Collegiate Ski Association (USCSA) National Championships.

AU is among 20 women’s teams competing at the USCSA nationals, being held Wednesday through Saturday, March 4-7, in Winter Park, CO.

Junior Lauren Pfeifer (Livonia, NY/Livonia) placed 23rd to lead AU in Wednesday’s GS races. Sophomore Elissa DeGolyer (Silver Springs, NY/Letchworth) was 46th, senior Rachel Beckwith (Landgrove, VT/Stratton Mountain) was 50th, and senior Ulana Bihun (Jericho, VT/Mt. Mansfield) was 71st.

The AU women compete next on Friday in the slalom competition. Alfred is competing in its third straight USCSA nationals; the Saxons placed fifth in the GS and eighth in the slalom en route to finishing sixth overall at last year’s championships.
