AU women’s lacrosse team whips Medaille to stay unbeaten 3/28/09
Junior attack Abbey Schaffnit (Bemus Point, NY/Maple Grove) had six goals and six assists and sophomore attack Michelle Adams (Horseheads, NY/Horseheads) had seven goals and an assist for the Saxons, who led 12-3 at the half. Nine different players scored for AU, with junior defender Emily Steen (South Pasadena, CA/Purnell) netting two goals and junior attack Emily Tobin (Penfield, NY/Penfield) scoring once and assisting on two goals. Schaffnit added a pair of groundballs and five draw controls and sophomore midfielder Jennifer Omilanowicz (Mexico, NY/Mexico) had three groundballs and three draw controls to go with one goal. Melyssa Tollar had three goals to pace Medaille (1-2), which also got single goals from Marilyn Meyer and Liz Rockwood. Sophomore Kate Baughman (Rush, NY/Rush-Henrietta) made 10 saves in goal for Alfred, while Medaille goalkeeper Betty Herberger stopped 12 shots. Alfred is in action next on Wednesday, April 1, at 4 p.m. when the Saxons open their Empire 8 Conference slate at RIT. |
