ALFRED, NY — The Alfred University men’s tennis team beat visiting Nazareth College, 5-4, Friday afternoon.

Alfred (3-5, 2-3 Empire 8) got singles wins from sophomore Connor Houghton (Orleans, MA/Nauset Regional), 4-6, 6-4, 6-1 in first singles; freshman Nathan Garletts (Havertown, PA/Haverford), 6-4, 3-6, 6-4 in third singles; senior Nick Middaugh (Belmont, NY/Genesee Valley), 2-6, 7-6, 6-2 in fourth singles; and sophomore Ryan Parlia (Valley Stream, NY/Valley Stream South), 6-4, 6-3 in fifth singles.

Parlia and Garletts teamed to take the deciding second doubles match, 8-5.

Alfred is in action next on Saturday, April 11, at 1 p.m. at RIT
