UTICA, NY -- The Alfred University men's tennis team wrapped up its 2009 season Saturday with a 5-4 loss at Empire 8 Conference foe Utica College.

AU (5-9, 2-6 Empire 8) got singles wins from sophomore Connor Houghton (Orleans, MA/Nauset Regional), 6-2, 6-0 in first singles, and freshman Nathan Garletts (Havertown, PA/Haverford), 7-6, 6-4 in third singles.

AU won two doubles matches. Houghton and freshman Nate Kucko (Binghamton, NY/Chenango Forks) teamed to win first doubles, 8-3, while Garletts and sophomore Ryan Parlia (Valley Stream, NY/Valley Stream South) won their second doubles match, 8-3.
