ALFRED, NY — Three members of the Alfred University men’s and women’s outdoor track and field teams have been named Empire 8 Conference all-stars.

Conference all-stars were determined at the Empire 8 outdoor championship meet, held Saturday, April 18, at Nazareth College.

Junior Travis Cox (Ashaway, RI/Westerly) was named a First Team all-star in the hammer throw. He won the event with a toss of 46.78 meters. He was also a Second Team all-star in the discus after taking second in that event at the conference meet (38.72 meters).

Junior Megan Crimmins (Horseheads, NY/Horseheads) earned First Team women’s honors after winning the 1,500-run at the conference meet (4:57.60).

Sophomore Shawn Ross (Ticonderoga, NY/Ticonderoga) earned Second Team honors in the shot put (14.10 meters).
