ALFRED, NY-- The Alfred University women’s soccer team lost their season opener to Pitt-Bradford, 2-0, Tuesday afternoon.

Lindsay Sherman scored the first goal for Pitt-Bradford (1-0) on an assist from Michelle Centola 37 minutes into the game. Centola added an insurance goal with just over 13 minutes remaining in the game.

Sophomore goalie Shanna Ewoldt (Tuscon, AZ/Waubansie) made two saves for Alfred. Alisa Cornell stopped eight shots to earn the shutout.

Alfred is in action next on Saturday, Sept. 5, at 4 p.m. against visiting Thiel in the first round of the AU Invitational Tournament.
