ALFRED, NY-- The Alfred University women’s soccer team lost in overtime to Utica, 2-1 Sunday afternoon.

Jamie Hillman scored the first goal for Utica 40:52 into the first half. Freshman forward Erika Garrett (Fountain Valley, CA/Fountain Valley) scored the lone goal for the Saxons on an assist from teammate Erin Crandall (Almond, NY/Alfred-Almond) with just under four minutes remaining in the second half. Amber Comeau scored the game winning goal for Utica 4:39 in overtime.

Utica (2-3-0, 1-1-0 E8) outshot Alfred 26-7. Sophomore goalie Shanna Ewoldt (Tuscon, AZ/Waubansie) made 13 saves in the game for Alfred. Monique Schneeberger had two saves in goal for Utica.

Alfred (1-4-1, 0-3-0 E8) will play again Wednesday, Sept. 23, at 4 p.m. against host Ithaca.
