ALFRED, NY —The Alfred University men’s soccer team defeated visiting Wells, 1-0, Monday evening.

Sophomore midfielder Bradley Willis (Honeoye, NY/Honeoye) headed the game winning goal in the net for the Saxons on an assist from freshman midfielder Tony Gai (Burke, VA/Lake Braddock) 4:16 into the second half.

AU outshot Wells 22-6. Sophomore goalie Elliot Thorpe (Highlands Ranch, CO/Thunder Ridge) made four saves in goal for Alfred in his 90 minutes of action. Mike Birklin had four saves in goal for Wells (1-6).

Alfred (5-2) is in action next on Saturday, Sept. 26, at 1 p.m. against host Ithaca.
