Dr. Touchton to be featured speaker at Alfred University’s women's series
Dr. Judith Touchton, consultant and executive coach, Touchton Partners LLC, Washington, D.C., will speak at 4:30 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 8, 2009 in Nevins Auditorium, Powell Campus Center, Alfred University.
Touchton is the second speaker for this year’s Women’s Leadership Center’s “Women of Influence” series. Her presentation at Alfred University is co-sponsored by the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. The series is open to the public free of charge.
Her discussion, “Women’s Roles in Academia: Women as Academic Leaders, Educators, and Administrators,” will draw on her expertise as an independent consultant and executive coach to academic women leaders. Touchton is the author of “A Measure of Equity: Women’s Progress in Higher Education. ” She is also the founder of WomenLeadersMove.com, an Internet resource for coaching and referrals designed for women in academia.
The Women’s Leadership Center builds on Alfred University’s heritage as the first truly coeducational institution in the nation. The Women of Influence program brings powerful female role models to campus, providing opportunities for inspiration and guidance through lectures and small-group discussions. Past speakers have included a NYS Supreme Court judge, a dean of a medical college, and a lobbyist from Albany. The WLC builds on Alfred University’s heritage as the first truly coeducational institution in the nation. The center offers students and others the opportunity to explore and fulfill their leadership potential personally, professionally, and in the community.
