AU volleyball team drops three at Oswego

OSWEGO, NY — The Alfred University volleyball team played Friday and Saturday at the SUNY Oswego Invitational. The Lady lost all three matches played in the tournament, falling 3-1 to Oswego and Medaille and 3-0 to D’Youville.

In the match against Oswego, AU (2-17, 0-4 Empire 8) fell by scores of 22-25, 25-15, 25-11, and 25-10. Senior Emily Steen (South Pasadena, CA/Purnell) nine kills, 15 digs and three blocks to pace the Lady Saxons. Sophomore Emily Crosby (Fairport, NY/Fairport) added eight kills, 12 digs and two service aces and senior Emma Walsh (Lancaster, NY/Mt. St. Mary) had 25 assists and three aces.

AU lost to Medaille 25-15, 24-26, 25-14, and 25-18. Crosby had eight kills, nine digs and a block; Walsh had 20 assists and seven digs; Steen had five kills, 11 digs and nine blocks; junior Tara Quigley (Bluepoint, NY/Bayport-Bluepoint) had five kills and seven blocks; and senior Janelle Brandow (Dolgeville, NY/Dolgeville) had five kills.

D’Youville swept Alfred, 25-12, 25-16, and 27-25. Quigley had seven kills and three blocks to lead AU. Steen had four kills, 13 digs and a block; junior Erika Huyck (Forestville, NY/Forestville) had 17 digs; and Walsh had 17 assists.

AU is in action next on Wednesday, Oct. 14, at 7 p.m. at Keuka.
