AU ranked third in Lambert Poll

ALFRED, NY — The Alfred University football team is ranked third in the latest Lambert Meadowlands Poll for Division III.

The Lambert Meadlowlands Poll, administered by the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC), recognizes Eastern college football supremacy. At the end of the season, Lambert Meadlowlands Bowl awards will be presented to the top Eastern college teams in Division I Bowl Subdivision, Division I Championship Subdivision, Division II and Division III. AU is ranked behind top-ranked Wesley and second-ranked Washington and Jefferson in the Division III poll.

Alfred University won the Lambert Bowl for small school teams in 1971, when the Saxons finished the season a perfect 8-0.

The American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) has Alfred (5-0, 2-0 Empire 8) ranked 18th in its latest Division III national top-25 poll. The Saxons, who beat Empire 8 Conference foe Hartwick College, 42-17, last Saturday, are idle this weekend and return to action Saturday, Oct. 24, at 1 p.m., at Empire 8 rival St. John Fisher.
