ALFRED, NY-- The Alfred University women’s soccer team lost a 0-1 decision against visiting St. John fisher in an Empire 8 Conference contest Wednesday night.

Mary Dougherty scored the game-winning goal on an assist from Catherine Mibaum with just under 15 minutes remaining in the second half.

St. John Fisher outshot Alfred 23-5. Sophomore goalie Shanna Ewoldt (Tuscon, AZ/Waubansie) made eight saves in goal for Alfred (4-8-2, 0-7 E8). Ashley Martin had two saves in goal for St. John Fisher (6-7-2, 5-3 E8).

Alfred is in action next on Saturday, Oct. 24, at 1 p.m. against host Wells.
