BUFFALO, NY -- The Alfred University men's soccer team dropped a 2-1 decision in overtime at D'Youville Wednesday evening.

Josh Pfuntner scored both goals for D'Youville, including the game winner 3:20 into overtime. AU (5-7-1, 0-4-1 Empire 8) lost despite outshooting the hosts 27-7 and holding a 5-0 advantage in corner kicks.

with an unassisted goal 11:30 into the first period. Alfred senior defender Mike Buisman (Rochester, NY/Penfield) tied the game off an assist from freshman midfielder Tony Gai (Burke, VA/Lake Braddock) 7:34 into the second.

Senior goalie Pat Grimmer (Bath, NY/Haverling)went the distance in net for Alfred, making two saves. Dan Cornelius (50:23 minutes, four saves) and Jeremy McLaughlin (43:01, three saves, one goal) split time in goal for D'Youville, which improved to 3-13 on the season.

Alfred is in action next on Saturday, Oct. 24, at 1 p.m. at Nazareth.
