AU to host up-and-coming Washington, D.C. comedian Erin Jackson

On Friday, Nov. 6, Alfred University will host Erin Jackson, an up-and-coming comedian who has shown her skills in venues all over the country and on national television.

Admission is free to the event which begins at 9 p.m. in the Knight Club at Powell Center, on campus.

Jackson first garnered attention working hard touring the East Coast and performing stand-up shows at comedy clubs. She is native of Washington D.C., home of many other notable comics such as Dave Chappelle, Lewis Black, and Martin Lawrence. The Washington Post considers her to possibly be the next in line for greatness.

Jackson has also made a number of television appearances performing on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” and “The Bob and Tom Show,” as well as reaching the semifinal round on NBC’s “Last Comic Standing.” You can now find her on TBS in a new late-night comedy series, “The Very Funny Show.”

Jackson has also performed at a number of festivals including the Just for Laughs Chicago Comedy Festival; the Great American Comedy Festival, in which she took second place; the Boston Comedy Festival; and the DC Comedy Festival. She was also a finalist on NBC’s “Stand-Up for Diversity Initiative,” and the winner of the Oxygen Network’s “So You Think You’re Funny” contest.
