AU women’s basketball team pounds Hilbert
Five Lady Saxons scored in double figures as AU improved to 5-1 on the season. Alfred led 47-25 at the half and for the game shot 42 percent from the floor and 80 percent (20 of 25) from the line. AU held a 58-36 rebounding advantage over the hosts, who shot 33 percent from the field and only 36 percent from the free throw line.
Junior forward Autumn McLain (Oneida, NY/Oneida) scored 18 points on seven-of-12 shooting and added 10 rebounds and five steals. Senior forward Hannah Meier (Rochester, NY/Greece Odyssey) shot seven-of-10 from the floor and scored 16 points while pulling down four rebounds. Junior point guard Lyndsay Murphy (Almond, NY/Hornell) had 15 points, five rebounds and six assists; senior guard Lisa Button (Troupsburg, NY/Jasper-Troupsburg) had 12 points, six rebounds and five steals; and sophomore guard Christina Jordan (Cornwall-on-the-Hudson, NY/Cornwall) netted 12 points with three steals.
Devin Davis led Hilbert (0-6) with 18 points and five rebounds and Julie Bossard added six points, 10 rebounds and five steals.
AU is in action next on Saturday, Dec. 5, at 2 p.m. when the Lady Saxons open their Empire 8 Conference schedule against visiting Stevens.
