Tazon de’ Estrellas to be streamed live on the internet

The Tazon de’ Estrellas (Bowl of Stars) all-star football game being played Saturday, Dec. 19, at 1 p.m. (EST) will be broadcast live on the internet. Alfred University senior Jared Manzer (Johnson City, NY/Johnson City) is a member of the United States squad that will square off against a team of collegiate all-stars from Mexico.

The Tazon de’ Estrellas will be played on the Tec Monterray Campus Estado de Mexico, outside Mexico City. To view the video webcast, at a cost of $5, go to

The annual game had previously been known as the Aztec Bowl and was coordinated by the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA). It is now run by Global Football. Manzer is part of a 50-player U.S. roster that will be coached by former LaSalle, Delaware Valley and Widener coach Bill Manlove.

The 6-0, 190-pound Manzer enjoyed a tremendous career for the Saxons, which ended with a first-round loss to Albright in the NCAA Division III playoffs on Nov. 21. Manzer was hurt in the Saxons' first offensive series in that game and did not return, but will play in Saturday's game in Mexico.

The game in Mexico will culminate an outstanding senior season for Manzer, who this week was named an AFCA All-American and the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Northwest Region Player of the Year. He has also been named Empire 8 Conference Player of the Year and was a First Team conference all-star as a wide receiver, defensive back and all-purpose runner, and a Second Team selection as a return man.

Manzer will be the fifth Saxon to play for the United States team in Mexico. Strong safety Brian Keefer (2000), tailback/placekicker Jesse Raynor (2003), linebacker Brenton Brady (2005) and defensive tackle Don Miller (2007) played in the Aztec Bowl.
