ALFRED, NY — The Empire 8 has named Alfred University senior diver Kameron Chambliss (Alfred Station, NY/Alfred-Almond) the conference's swimming and diving Athlete of the Week.

Chambliss was honored for his performance in two dual meets held at home over the weekend.

In a victory over conference foe Utica on Friday, Chambliss set new school records in three-meter diving (316.15 points) and one-meter diving (288.50), with both scores meeting NCAA qualifying standards. The following day, in a win over LeMoyne, Chambliss again met NCAA qualifying standards in the three-meters (307.25) and one-meter (279.85) boards.

Chambliss has now qualified to compete at the NCAA Division III championships, which will be held March 18-20 in Minneapolis, MN. To qualify for the NCAAs, a diver must meet qualifying standards twice on the same board during dual meets, or once at a conference championship meet.
