AU indoor track and field teams shine at Fredonia Invitational 1/25/10
Sophomore Richard Scott (Eden, NY/Eden) (400 meters, 52.42 seconds) and junior Shawn Ross (Ticonderoga, NY/Ticonderoga) (shot put, 13.23 meters) each earned first-place finishes for the AU men. Scott also took fourth in the long jump (6.09 meters). Sophomore Annie Mills (Scarborough, ME/Scarborough) (55 meters, 7.86 seconds), senior Megan Crimmins (Big Flats, NY/Horseheads) (mile run, 5:38.52), senior Rachel Gaylord (Elmira, NY/Horseheads) (800 meters, 2:35.55), and freshman Kelly-Jo Beck (York, NY/York) (shot put, 10.05 meters) won events for the Alfred women. Mills also placed second in the 55-meter hurdles (9.96 seconds) and fifth in the 200-meter dash (31.77 seconds). Other top performers for the Alfred men were: freshman Chris Lopez (Rochester, NY/Pittsford Sutherland), fourth in the 55 meters (6.81) and fifth in the long jump (6.06 meters) and triple jump (11.57 meters); junior Markenson Joseph (Brooklyn, NY/Nazareth Regional), second in the weight throw (13.30 meters); sophomore Justin Shardlow (Alfred Station, NY/Alfred-Almond), sixth in the long jump (5.71 meters); senior Lee Consolo (Pleasantville, NY/Pleasantville), third in the 800-meter run (2:02.88); freshman Jeremy Weaver (Lancaster, PA/Lancaster Catholic), fifth in the 400 meters (54.34) and 55 meters (6.88 seconds); and sophomore Ken Noll (Valatie, NY/Ichabod Crane) and senior Jesse Schuster (Tonawanda, NY/Tonawanda), fourth (4:53.21) and fifth (4:53.59), respectively, in the mile run. For the AU women, freshman Jordyn Larkins (Rochester, NY/Harley-Allendale-Columbia) was third in the 200-meter dash (30.33 seconds) and fourth in the 55-meter hurdles (8.12 seconds); freshman Gabby Rinaldi (Canisteo, NY/Canisteo-Greenwood) was fifth in the 55-meter hurdles (11.37); junior Jen Chan (Angelica, NY/Genesee Valley) was fifth in the mile run (6:04.64) and 400 meters (1:13.87); freshman Amy Morrissey (Hornell, NY/Hornell) was second in the 400 meters (1:10.52); freshman Erin Johnstone (West Henrietta, NY/Rush-Henrietta) was third in the 400 meters (1:12.44); junior Melissa Haahr (Owego, NY/Tioga) was fourth in the 800 meters (2:39.84); freshman Emily Moorehead (Waverly, NY/Waverly) was third in the weight throw (12.15 meters) and fourth in the shot put (8.92 meters); and freshman Kirstin Cook (Tonawanda, NY/Kenmore East) was second in the shot put (9.36 meters). The AU men’s and women’s teams compete next on Sunday, Jan. 31, at the Empire 8 Conference indoor championships, hosted by RIT. |
