ALFRED, NY — The Alfred University men’s basketball team was defeated by RIT, 58-45, Tuesday evening in an Empire 8 matchup.

Alfred (7-9, 1-7 Empire8) trailed RIT, 32-20, at the end of the first half. For the game, AU shot 29 percent and RIT shot 42 percent.

Senior forward Ron Smith (Lyons, NY/Lyons) scored a game-high 14 points and had six rebounds to lead the Saxons. Junior guard Mike Stopera (Scotia,NY/Scotia-Glenville) netted nine points and sophomore center Bryan Bobo (Ontario, NY/Wayne Central) added seven points. Senior forward Jared Patt (Nelson, PA/Elkland Area) pulled down a team-high seven rebounds.

Anthony Terry scored a game-high 14 points and Nate Korninchak tallied a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds to pace the Tigers (6-10, 2-5 Empire 8) . Scott Young chipped in with eight points.
