ALFRED, NY — The Empire 8 has named Alfred University senior Andrew Brisson (Greenwich, CT/Greenwich) the conference’s men’s swimming and diving Athlete of the Week.


Brisson was honored for his performance in Alfred’s dual meet win at Empire 8 rival Hartwick on Saturday, Feb. 6. He won three individual events — the 50-yard freestyle (21.86 seconds), the 100-yard backstroke (54.16 seconds), and the 200-yard backstroke (2:01.66) — and swam on the winning 200-yard freestyle relay.

Alfred wrapped up its dual meet season with a 7-2 overall record (4-1 Empire 8). The Saxons are now preparing for the Upper New York State Collegiate Swimming Association (UNYSCSA) championships meet, Feb. 24-27 in Syracuse. AU is the three-time defending UNYSCSA champion.
