10/22/10

ALFRED, NY -- Alfred University head men's lacrosse coach Jason Lockner announces the appointment of Jason Edwards as a part-time assistant coach.

Edwards is a 2009 graduate of Alfred University who earned a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering. Currently, he is a second-year graduate student in the AU MBA program.

A native of Geneva, NY, Edwards was a four-year letterwinning defenseman for the Saxons and served as a student assistant coach last season. His appointment increases the team's coaching staff to four: Lockner, two part-time assistants, and one graduate assistant.

Lockner said Edwards will be instrumental to coaching and managing a growing roster.

"With over 40 players, we have gone from one of the smallest to one of the largest teams in the Empire 8," Lockner said. "With Jason, we are able to devote the time needed for our players in and outside of practice. Additionally, this boosts our recruitment efforts by putting another coach out on the road."
