AU offering robotics engineering camp for high school students
4/04/12

Alfred University will host the Robotics Engineering Camp, a summer program for high school upperclassmen interested in learning more about the VEX Robotics System, Sunday-Thursday, June 24-28.

The camp is designed for students entering 10th, 11th, or 12th grade this fall. The program will focus on expanding the understanding of robotics technology through the assembly and programming of a Vex Robotic system. The session will use the Vex technology as a tool to expand on the mathematics and science skills of each student.

In addition to the workshops, participants will enjoy scheduled activities on and off campus, including picnics, campfires, and hikes.

Dr. Jianxin Tang, AU professor of electrical engineering, is the camp director. Questions about camp academic content may be directed to him at 607.871.2130.

The $850 camp fee includes a non-refundable $100 deposit. The fee covers tuition, supervision, program materials, a field trip, recreational activities, and room and board from dinner on the first day through lunch on the last day. Participants will stay in double rooms in the University’s residence halls. The $100 deposit must be submitted with the application.

Students who wish to apply must return a completed application form (go to: http://www.alfred.edu/sum...), a copy of an up-to-date transcript or report card, two letters of recommendation from teachers, and a non-refundable (unless the student is not accepted to the program) $100 deposit. All items should be sent in one packet to the Office of Summer Programs, Alfred University, Saxon Drive, Alfred, NY 14802, by Friday, April 13, 2012. Late applications may be considered only if space is available.
