Wheeling Around Campus

Alfred University continues to promote healthful living and a greener campus with two new initiatives: a bicycle lending program and an admissions bike tour.

Twenty Fuji hybrid bicycles were purchased with $10,000 in funding from the AU Student Senate to be lent to students for $3 for two days and $5 for a week. Kathy Woughter, AU vice president of Student Affairs, praised the program and credited the Student Senate for approving the monies to get it up and running.

Alfred University is putting a new spin on its campus tours by offering a unique "green" alternative in the form of a 7-person bike. The bike has 14 pedals, seven seats, four wheels, hydraulic disc brakes, and steering like a Porsche. Already a big hit with current and prospective students, families, faculty and staff, these one-of-a-kind tours are offered on Mondays and Fridays, weather permitting.
