Student Affairs
Family Resources : Overview
AU Student and ParentsParents as partners
Family connections are critical to today's college students. With our shared goals of student success, Alfred University faculty and staff view parents as partners in preparing students for life after college.

Fostering independence
The desire to advocate for your child is normal and natural and we welcome questions from parents; however, we work directly with our students in exploring situations of concern so that they can learn to manage conflict and advocate for themselves.

Before contacting us
Be sure to ask your son or daughter to get in touch with the appropriate faculty or staff member to start the discussion prior to contacting us. If he or she doesn't know where to begin, the Dean of Students, Dr. Norm Pollard, in the Student Affairs office in Carnegie Hall (607.871.2132 or email), is available as a starting point. Melody McLay, Director of Parent Programs, can respond to questions about special events for parents and families (607.871.2612 or email).

Privacy
The University is required to abide by the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and cannot reveal protected information without a student's permission. It is important for you to discuss and clarify your expectations for sharing information. Learn more about FERPA >>>
