   Dining at Alfred University

Students at other colleges may complain about “campus cuisine,” but our students give AU high marks for the quality and variety of what we serve on campus.

Even more important…when students talk, we listen. Feedback directly influences what we serve. Dining Services invites students to stop by their office, call or e-mail. Comments are always welcome!

You'll find a wide variety of quality menu selections to tempt your taste buds from the breakfast hour through dinner at our main dining halls, Ade and Powell. Enjoy all-time American favorites and comfort food to ethnic dishes and the latest in vegetarian cuisine. A busy schedule should never be an excuse for missing a great meal - we have nearly continuous service so you can stop by anytime during the day and enjoy a hot meal with us.

Newly remodeled, Ade Hall features “Fusion,” a special serving area with a menu inspired by various global cuisines. It is equipped with a Mongolian grill, which is used to prepare Asian, Italian and Mexican food, as well as sautés and omelets. With 12 ingredients and eight sauces to choose from, students can have made-to-order dishes. Dining Services is seeking “recipes from home” from our international students and will incorporate those dishes into its offerings.

Other new features at Ade include a “wall of cereal,” as well as organic baked goods and homemade soups.

Powell dining room, located in the Powell Campus Center, is now equipped with a demonstration kitchen for cooking classes by AU’s chefs. There is a bagel bakery on the premises and a deli counter.

Li'l Alf and MidKnight Express:

For a change of pace (or scenery) there's an entirely different menu offered at the Li'l Alf Café, on the second floor of Powell and at our "after hours" Café, the MidKnight Express. Both cafés provide a casual setting for lingering with friends over pizza, deli sandwiches and wraps, big burgers, decadent desserts, smoothies, or coffee. Li’l Alf has just been re-named "Cyberfresh" since all ordering is done through a computer screen. MidKnight Express is both a convenience store and deli, open nightly until 2 a.m.

Bag Lunches & Dinners:

Bag meals are available if you are unable to eat a meal in the dining halls. Let a dining manager know 24 hours in advance, and your meal will be ready to pick up at the agreed upon time.

Not feeling well?

If you are not feeling well, a sick meal program approved by the Health Center is available. Send a friend with your meal card and have them contact a Manager or Supervisor, who will provide them with the approved meal.

Dining Plan Options:

We offer plans to meet your needs, from 300 meals/semester if you plan to eat most of your meals on campus, to 77 meals/semester for those who live in the apartments or off-campus. First-year on-campus students have an option of choosing one of three residential board plans, with other options available for upperclass students and commuters. Each plan comes with dining dollars for use at Cyberfresh Cafe at Li'l Alf, MidKnight Express, or in campus vending machines. Plans are non-transferable, but most dining plans allow for you to use five percent of your meals to treat family or friends when they visit. Additional funds may be added to your dining dollar account anytime during the semester by making a deposit at the Dining Office in Ade Hall, Li'l Alf or MidKnight Express. Please click here to review the meal plan details, find out about hours and locations, and more.
