Alumni Spotlight is an electronic newsletter produced by the Alfred University Office of Marketing and Communications and published periodically throughout the year. It aims to shine a spotlight on news and accomplishments of our amazing alumni. Alumni news is included in the Class Notes section of the Alfred alumni magazine, which is published twice a year. Notable alumni serve on panel discussions at DC Purple City Leadership Forum

Twenty-five Alfred University students and a group of faculty and staff traveled to Washington, D.C., last week for a three-day event which allowed students to engage with alumni who have enjoyed successful careers in the nation’s capital.

President Biden visits Wolfspeed, company co-founded by alumnus, trustee John Edmond ’83

President Joe Biden made a visit March 29 to Wolfspeed, a Durham, NC, semiconductor manufacturer co-founded by Alfred University alumnus John Edmond ’83. Biden’s visit served to kick off his “Investment in America” tour, in which the president discussed the importance of reviving American manufacturing.

Statues of Frederick Douglass created by Alfred University alumna Olivia Kim ’01 and installed at various outdoor locations in the city of Rochester, are being restored and moved to indoor settings throughout the city.

Michael Christakis ’99 named 2023 Pillar of the Profession

Alfred University alumnus Michael Christakis ’99, vice president for Student Affairs at the University at Albany, has been selected by the Student Affairs Administrators in High Education (NAPSA) Foundation Board as a 2023 Pillar of the Profession.
