Alumnus Nick Basta ’93 appearing in episode of new Netflix series, ‘Florida Man’

Alfred University alumnus Nick Basta ’93 will appear in an episode of Netflix new action/comedy series, “Florida Man,” which hit the streaming platform on Thursday, April 13.


IMDB’s description of the plot of “Florida Man”: “A disgraced cop in debt is forced to return to his home state of Florida for a shady mission only to get swept up in a wild — and deadly —treasure hunt.”

Basta, who earned a B.F.A. degree from Alfred University, appears in Episode 3 of the inaugural season of “Florida Man.” In the episode, titled “The Truth is Not a Good Idea,” Basta plays the role of Gil Franco.

Since earning his degree from Alfred University, Basta has appeared in numerous television series and films. In 2020, he appeared in Amazon Prime’s “The Glorias,” a 2020 movie based on the life of women’s rights activist Gloria Steinem. He has also appeared in the movies “Harriet” (2019) and “Where’s Rose” (2021), among others. His television credits include: Stargirl, Bluff City Law, True Detective, and NCIS: New Orleans.
