Hot Dog Day, an annual event hosted by Alfred University, Alfred State College, and the Village of Alfred, was held on Saturday, April 22. A springtime tradition more than a half-century old, Hot Dog Day returned to Alfred’s Main Street following an eight-year hiatus and, despite some rain and wind, was a well-attended success, providing a number of fun events for members of the campus communities and visitors alike.

Students and faculty were recognized for their achievements during the annual Honors Convocation Friday afternoon, April 21, in Miller Theater. Among the honorees were Bethany Johnson, associate professor of psychology at Alfred University, who received the prestigious Abigail Allen Award, and students Knox VanRenselaar and Owen Nelson, named winners of the Marlin Miller Outstanding Senior Award.

State University of New York Chancellor John B. King Jr. visited Alfred University on Wednesday, April 26, as part of his tour of the SUNY system. King took office on Jan. 9 and later that month began visiting SUNY’s 64 institutions. The campus tours will wrap up in early May.

Seven Alfred University students, majoring in engineering and computer science, visited the New York State Electric and Gas (NYSEG) facility in Vestal, NY, on Thursday, April 20. It marks the second time in two weeks a group of Alfred University students visited Binghamton, NY-area facility, where they were able to network with NYSEG officials and talk about potential employment opportunities.
