Pair of Alfred University students receive SUNY Chancellor’s Awards

Two Alfred University seniors are recipients of the 2024 State University of New York (SUNY) Chancellor’s Award for Student Excellence. Olivia Gilbert and Emilia Donenberg Smith were among 193 students from 62 SUNY campuses to receive the award from SUNY Chancellor John B. King Jr. during an April 11 ceremony in Albany.

SUNY Chancellor John King returns to Alfred University as part of 64-campus tour

State University of New York Chancellor John B. King Jr. returned to Alfred University on Friday afternoon, April 12, during his tour of the SUNY system. King also spent time in Alfred last spring as part of his visits to SUNY’s 64 institutions.

Frank-ly speaking, Hot Dog Day promises a good time for all

Hot Dog Day, the annual springtime celebration hosted by Alfred University, Alfred State College, and the Village of Alfred, will be held on Saturday, April 20. This year’s Hot Dog Day events will be held at various locations in the village and on both campuses.

Scholes Library exhibiting collection of brass rubbings: captured images of the deceased laid to rest in English medieval churches

Scholes Library is hosting an exhibition of brass rubbings – images captured on paper from brass monuments laid in the floors of medieval churches. The collection has been curated by Alfred University students enrolled in the “Bones and Stones” seminar taught by Assistant Professor of Art History Meg Bernstein, School of Art and Design. It will run through April 25.
