Mike Pellicciotti ’00, treasurer for the state of Washington, will deliver the keynote address for Alfred University’s 2026 Commencement on Saturday, May 16. Commencement ceremonies begin at 10 a.m. in the Galanis Family Arena, McLane Center.

Alfred University undergraduate Izzy Wachtel recently won the Jane Childs DTM Legacy Award honoring student designers and technicians who present their work for the first time at the regional Design, Technology, and Management (DTM) Expo, hosted under the auspices of the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival (ACTF).

We recently learned Roger Eiss ’58 passed away peacefully after a short stay in a memory care facility near his home in Vancouver, Washington. Roger earned a BS degree in ceramic tech science in 1958 and a master’s degree in ceramic engineering from AU in 1964. He also earned a PhD in chemistry from the MIT. He was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity and Keramos.

A forum for community education and awareness focusing on U.S. Immigration Customs Enforcement drew approximately 125 Alfred University students, faculty, and staff members, in addition to community members, last week at Herrick Library.

Ayomideji “Deji” Israel-Akinbo, a junior from Makhanda, Eastern Cape, South Africa, has been named Alfred University’s first-ever All-American in rugby. National Collegiate Rugby (NCR) released its 2025 All-American teams on Feb. 5 and Israel-Akinbo was one of just 23 players nationwide named to the Division III squad.
