As the year comes to a close, more than 270 donors reflected on their own Alfred experiences—or watched their children discover new passions—and chose to give back. During the All In For Alfred Day of Giving, held December 4–5, their support totaled over $220,000, underscoring the lasting impact of Alfred University’s personal approach to education.

Held during Founders Day, which commemorates Alfred’s establishment in 1836, the event brought together alumni, friends, families, trustees, faculty and staff around a shared belief in the promise and potential of Alfred students. Their collective support ensures students have access to the resources, opportunities, and the mentorship of faculty and staff that define an Alfred education.

Alumni donor Susan Rozak ’86, M.S. ’88, shared that her support reflects the deeply personal care she experienced as a student. “I am all in for Alfred because it is a university that genuinely cared about me as a student and as a person,” Rozak said. “I never felt like just a number there—every professor took the time to support me and truly cared about my success.”

A Community That Reaches Far and Wide

This year’s donors represented a broad cross-section of the Alfred community, with contributions coming from as far away as Canada and Germany. Donor class years ranged from 1956 to 2027, including 15 first-time donors whose participation reflects the continued growth of the Alfred family.

Parents also shared powerful reasons for supporting the University. Susan Oi, whose daughter Victoria studies at Alfred, spoke about the transformative impact of her daughter’s academic experience. “I am all in for Alfred because of the wonderful home my daughter Victoria found there,” Oi said. “As a student studying art at Alfred, she has truly found her voice. Her studies in sculpture and minor in geology have all combined to help her shape her future and create provocative and thought-provoking, meaningful works. This would not have been possible without Alfred.”

A Shared Commitment to the Future

The strong response to this year’s Day of Giving underscores the enduring bonds that connect generations of Saxons and their belief in Alfred’s future. That shared commitment was also demonstrated through the generosity of alum Bob Perlman ’64 and Alfred University trustee Jon R. Tabor, whose challenge gifts inspired participation across the community and amplified the impact of every donation.

“We are deeply grateful for all those who contributed to our Day of Giving and in support of Alfred University’s mission of Helping Students Realize Their Purpose,” said Mark Zupan, Alfred University president. “What a wonderful way to not only celebrate our university’s 189th birthday but, most importantly, to look forward to an even more promising future.”

As the year draws to a close, Alfred University extends its sincere thanks to everyone who went All In For Alfred. Each gift—no matter the size—strengthens scholarships, programs, and student experiences, ensuring that Alfred continues to shine brightly for generations to come.

Wishing our extended Alfred community joy, health, and restful holidays—and thank you for helping shape the University’s future.
