Berry’s inclusion in the 15th Anniversary Edition, which publishes in December, affirms her distinct voice within contemporary ceramics. Berry is a Canadian artist who holds a BFA from Concordia University (Montréal) and an MFA in ceramic art from Alfred University. She has undertaken international and national residencies, including at the Guldagergaard International Ceramics Research Centre (Denmark), Medalta Historic Clay District (Canada) and Harbourfront Centre (Toronto).

Berry’s work traverses clay, metal and digitally-extruded plastics to probe layered networks of geologic time, architecture, and digital culture. Her recent MFA thesis installment — including a monumental 12 × 10 × 7-foot spiral constructed of earthenware, fossils, aluminum, bronze and PLA — exemplifies this hybrid terrain of craft, engineering and speculative material futures.

Erin’s selection for Ceramics Now’s anniversary edition affirms not only her emerging international status but also the caliber of practice emanating from Alfred University’s top-ranked ceramic arts program.

“Erin Berry’s work embodies the curiosity, rigor, and boundary-pushing imagination that define Alfred’s ceramic arts community,” said Lauren Lake, dean of the School of Art & Design and Performing Arts Division. “Her selection for Ceramics Now’s 15-Year Anniversary Edition is a remarkable recognition of her vision and technical mastery, and a testament to the powerful ways she is shaping the future of the field.”
