Are you a Murderino?

That’s the nickname for fans of the podcast My Favorite Murder, described by podcast authorities such as Find That Pod as “one of the most popular podcasts in the world.”  My Favorite Murder is reported to have millions of followers around the globe – 35 million downloads per month – in which case it’s now possible millions of Murderinos have heard of Alfred’s annual Hot Dog Day, thanks to Alfred University English Professor Juliana Gray.

Gray recently penned a letter to My Favorite Murder hosts Karen Kilgariff and Georgia Hardstark, extolling the virtues of Hot Dog Day, and citing Kilgariff and Hardstark’s admitted fondness for hot dogs. “You say you like hot dogs?” Gray writes. “You should totally attend.” She invited Kilgariff and Hardstark to attend some Hot Dog Day in the future, maybe even the 2025 event scheduled for Saturday, April 26.

Kilgariff and Hardstark’s podcast creation features True Crime reports, shared in a witty, conversational mode, and with frequent expressions of both podcasters’ love for hot dogs. Gray herself is a student of true crime (and a fan of the occasional veggie dog). Her essay on Lizzie Borden was published last year in West Branch magazine, and in her letter to My Favorite Murder, she describes herself as a Murderino among the many millions of Murderinos around the world.

Those fans have come to appreciate Kilgariff and Hardstark’s podcast as an “artful blend of dark humor and radical empathy,” according to the website Find That Pod, “the perfect cocktail of chuckles and chills that resonates with listeners…like a perfectly aged wine just waiting to be uncorked.”

In other words, the perfect podcast for a Hot Dog Day plug.
