Eight high school students from across the U.S. have been chosen for the 2025 Young Pianist Competition, hosted by the MostArts Festival, which be held on the Alfred University campus from July 13-19.
Additionally, the winner of the 2024 Young Pianist Competition, Jonathan Mei of Charleston, SC, will return to Alfred to play in the opening performance.
The Young Pianist Competition is open to high school students ages 13-18, with finalists invited to the Alfred University campus during the festival week to perform a solo recital and to solo with the MostArts Festival Orchestra. In addition to an invitation to return the following year for a solo performance, the Grand Prize winner is also eligible to become a Young Steinway Artist.
