Ayush Sengupta, assistant professor of analytics and J. Henry Smith Chair of Business and Administration in Alfred University’s College of Business, presented his paper, “Share-the-Road: Exploring the Relationship between Bike-sharing and Ridesharing Platforms,” as an invited talk at the 56th Annual Conference of the Decision Sciences Institute (DSI), held Nov. 22-24, 2025, in Orlando, FL.

Sengupta’s research examines how bike-sharing platforms such as Citi Bike interact with ridesharing services like Uber and Lyft, using causal inference methods to analyze impacts on ridesharing demand. The findings offer implications for shared mobility providers and policymakers seeking to reduce congestion and emissions in urban areas. This research was previously published in the 2025 Proceedings of the Americas Conference on Information Systems (AMCIS).

In addition, Sengupta participated in the Junior Faculty Consortium (JFC) at the International Conference on Information Systems (ICIS) 2025, held Dec. 14-17 in Nashville, Tennessee. The selective program brought together junior faculty from around the world with senior academic leaders to discuss research, teaching, service, promotion and tenure, mentorship, and strategies for navigating the challenges of an academic career.
