Two Alfred University faculty and a pair of alumni were recognized during the 2025 the New York State Association of School Psychologist's annual conference, held Nov. 13-15 in Ithaca, NY.

Brad Daly, associate professor of school psychology, and Geremy Grant, assistant professor of school psychology, along with alumna Taylor Ayres, M.A. ’20, were presented with Presidential Service Awards. Daly, Grant, and Ayers were recognized for serving as co-chairs of the conference planning committee.

The conference theme was "School Psychologists Blazing Trails Together," in recognition of the collaboration and innovation that is part of school psychology practice. Over 400 attendees, representing school psychologists, child psychologists, and other related professionals from throughout New York state took part in the proceedings of the conference. The conference covered important topics affecting children, families, and professionals in schools, including suicide prevention, the science of reading, effects of trauma, and burnout prevention, and featured nationally-recognized speakers.

Another Alfred University alumnus was also honored at the conference. Alexandra Scheer M.A. ’24 was presented the Ted Bernstein Award. The award is presented each year to honors graduate students in school psychology training programs across the state who exemplify the best qualities of a school psychologist and are committed to improving the lives of children and their families. Scheer, who was unable to attend the ceremony, was recognized for creating positive changes in her school community while on completing an internship at the Webster (NY) Central School District.
