Peter Cuneo Leadership Scholars Program

Lead with purpose. Graduate ready to make your impact.

The Peter Cuneo Leadership Scholars Program is an immersive four-year leadership experience designed for students who want to make a difference at Alfred University and beyond.

Each year, a select cohort of 15 first-year students will begin a personalized leadership journey through Alfred University's Judson Leadership Center. Scholars will develop their leadership skills through hands-on experiences, mentoring, civic engagement, professional development, travel, and meaningful connections with fellow students, alumni, and leaders.

The program begins with a strong first-year cohort experience and becomes increasingly personalized as students discover their interests, academic passions, and career goals. Along the way, scholars will explore their own leadership identities while building skills in communication, collaboration, creative problem-solving, ethical decision-making, and community engagement.

By senior year, scholars won't just have studied leadership, they'll have practiced it.

Inspired by Peter Cuneo ’67

Peter Cuneo ’67 has built a distinguished career leading organizations through transformation and change. He has completed seven major business turnarounds, holding leadership roles with companies including Clairol, Black & Decker, Remington, and Marvel Entertainment.

As President and CEO, and later Vice Chairman of Marvel, Cuneo helped lead the company's turnaround following bankruptcy and its growth into a global entertainment brand, culminating in its $4.5 billion sale to Disney in 2009.

The Peter Cuneo Leadership Scholars Program draws on the lessons of his career and his 28 lessons in leadership, emphasizing collaboration, resilience, ethical decision-making, creative problem-solving, and the ability to navigate change. These principles are woven throughout the program, giving scholars opportunities to develop and practice them during their four years at Alfred.
