About This Event

The Bergren Forum, sponsored by the Division of Human Studies and the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, will take place from 12:10 to 1:00 p.m. on Thursdays in Nevins Theatre in Powell Campus Center.

Episode 1: Rebecca Welch
Glass: The most bizarre and coolest material on earth.

While we can't imagine a world without glass from windows to cell-phone screens to art, many people do not realize just how weird glass is as a material. From a fundamental physics and thermodynamics perspective, glass shouldn't exist, but yet, it remains one of the most crucial materials to our everyday lives. This talk will discuss why glass is so strange and why we as humans have always been fascinated with glass throughout the ages.

Join this year's first Bergren Forum, sponsored by the Division of Human Studies and the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. Bring a brown bag lunch if you wish. Coffee and tea will be provided. For further information, contact John D’Angelo.
