Artist talk by New York-based painter and gallerist Damien H. Ding. Ding's paintings engage in the wide potential of the medium by channeling the messy histories of painting, in their prehistorical, medieval, and contemporary manifestations. Ding’s imagery is often meditative yet intense and hints at transcendence through stillness and velocity. His paintings and the contexts in which they exist are seductive, drawing in the viewer before revealing illogical and surreptitious elements that confound, catalyzing the generation of strong feelings that are difficult to articulate. Ding will also talk about his gallery D.D.D.D. and his experience as being both a gallerist and artist
